Leo Lyons is a photographer of over thirty years experience. Having studied photography in Aberystwyth in the late 1970s he began his career in London with freelance contributions to the music press and band and theatre promotion work before getting a job as an assistant with a commercial studio in Camden town. Here Leo honed his skills with catalogue work, pack shots and location work shooting mainly medium and large format film. However he had already started his own list of clients mainly in the music and fashion business. After a few years assisting Leo set up on his own working out of a small basement studio in Bloomsbury.

The work was varied ranging from ‘amusing’ greetings card shoots to magic books for Paul Daniels and single sleeves for Gloria Gaynor. During this time Leo worked a lot with Simon Cowell and shot the single sleeve for Simon’s first big success with Sinitta’s So Macho.

After a sideways move into IT, Leo is now once again taking photographs from his base in Folkestone Kent. He shoots much more of what he likes to shoot these days but still accepts commissions as well as exhibiting locally. The human form and face still fascinate above all else but Leo also likes to shoot wildlife, landscapes and anything else that interests him.
